City Holiday Apartment Options
There are several different ways to look at things when comparing holiday apartments with hotel rentals for short city breaks. Perhaps one of the overwhelming advantages of holiday apartments is that they offer the freedom of self catering. While it is nice to enjoy breakfast in the hotel and perhaps a meal in a restaurant, these options can be extremely expensive with many hotels charging £15 or £20 for breakfast alone, especially on a London city break.
Making yourself some toast and jam, for a couple of boiled eggs can represent a massive saving over three of four days of your getaway. In addition there are other catering items such as a simple coffee or tea which can cost several pounds in a hotel or a few pence if you make use of a holiday apartment kitchen.
Another cost advantage is that holiday apartments tend on the whole to be considerably cheaper than an equivalent hotel. One of the major reasons for this is that apartment complexes require considerably less staff than a hotel, which has the employ a whole host of people such as multiple receptionists, doormen, porters, chefs and so forth, all of which work their way through to your final bill.
Another advantage of short break holiday apartments is having considerably more room available to you. Unless you are in the position to rent a full suite from a quality hotel you will only be offered a fairly small room with barely enough space to walk around the bed.
When opting for an apartment it is not necessary to attempt to cram every item such as a refrigerator, dining table and TV into a single tiny space. With an apartment in your refrigerator will be in its natural home the kitchen, the TV will be found in the lounge opposite the sofa and chairs, and the dining table will also have a suitable location.
Holiday apartments tend to be situated in less busy areas, hotels are actively seeking passing trade as guests who arrive unannounced are charged the highest room rates so it is always best for a hotel to occupy a busy location.
Holiday apartments on the other hand are generally booked in advance and are therefore not required to be in a busy, and therefore probably noisy location.
Another reason many people opt for an apartment short break is that it offers considerably more privacy than a hotel. A hotel by its very nature tends to be very public with your comings and goings seen by both staff and other guests as you go about your daily business. An apartment tends to lend itself to a more traditionally private atmosphere.
All of this means that short break apartment accommodation offers a home away from home rather than a semi-public building, in which it can be difficult to enjoy a truly relaxing break where you feel that there is no intrusion into your personal life, combined with quite simply more square footage for you to call your own.
